ROBERT H. LYNCH, 86 LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER ROCKFORD – Robert H. Lynch, 86, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 2, 1923, in Rockford, the son of Harold and Opal (Quandt) Lynch. Graduate of Rockford High School, Class of 1940. Bob served in the U.S. Navy, from 1940 to 1946, on the USS Purvis and USS Badger. On July 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Rose Margaret Dorsey in Rockford. Bob was a tool and die maker by trade. He and Rose owned and operated Lynch’s Bony Lake Resort in Barnes, Wis., until their retirement in 1987. They moved back to Rockford and became members of St. Bridget Catholic Church, and Bob took time to enjoy his many home improvement projects. Survivors include loving wife of 64 years, Rose; sons, Stephen (Catherine) of Hayward, Wis., Michael (Linda) of Rockford, Raymond of Waukegan, Patrick of Wesby, Wis., and Rob (Kelly) of Fargo, N.D.; daughter, Cheryl (Gary) Regan of Mendota Heights, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Pinney and Joyce Kennedy; and many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents; and brothers, Donald and Roger. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12, in St. Bridget Catholic Church (600 Clifford Ave., Loves Park). Interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., with a rosary service recited at 7 p.m. Visitation also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday in the church.
